Bahrain played with a false choice of Togo

The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) and the Government of Togo have expressed surprise upon hearing of a match played in Bahrain for a fake football team of this country and have asked FIFA to take action against those responsible, local media reported Monday.

reports published on several websites, including FIFA, the Togolese team was defeated 3-0 by Bahrain on 7 September in a match played in this country in the Persian Gulf.

Meanwhile the Togo team had played on 4 September in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, a match in the preliminary stage of the African Nations Cup 2012 and returned to Lome on 7 September, after passing through Johannesburg and Accra.

"We have not sent one player to Bahrain. The players who participated in that game friendly were totally false and we will investigate to find those responsible, "he told reporters, General Seyi Memén, Chairman of the Interim Committee of the FTF.

Sports Minister of Togo, Christophe Tchao, also told the media their surprise and said he would ask FIFA, along with the FTF, to investigate the misuse of the name of the country in a football event.

Some media have reported that an unidentified agent sold this game on behalf of the Federation FTF Bahrain and remember that the Togo coach Bana Tchanile, was suspended for two years last month by leading a team that participated in a tournament in Cairo without permission.
