drug suspect mistakenly sent text message to police

Three suspected drug dealers in New York will pay dearly for their error, after sending a text message by phone to an investigator police rather than a potential customer.

The suspects tried to communicate with someone who wanted to buy drugs but they sent a message to an agent of a drug task force in Dutchess County.

After arranging an appointment with the agent, who posed as the buyer, the three were arrested.

Police seized 60 bags of heroin in the operation. "Their misfortune is our good luck," said Sergeant Brett Orlich panel.

Detainees will appear in court in the town of Pine Plains on Wednesday to face charges of criminal possession of a prohibited substance.
